Highlights from my collection of nineteenth and early twentieth century photographs (cabinet photographs, cartes de visite (cdvs), albumen prints, real photographic postcards) of men with moustaches (or mustaches, depending on which side of the pond you hail from). We travel the world gleaning bits of information whilst admiring the expertly twirled moustaches on display.

Tuesday 5th Movember: Weston Super Mare & New York

To wax or not to wax? That is the question. Here we have a similar moustache on two different men. Our rather startled-looking American friend has waxed his tips, whilst our brooding Brit has gone for a more rugged effect. My vote, on this occasion, is for the man from Weston Super Mare....

Two cartes de visite. Gael & Co. of Weston Super Mare and F Dessaur of 8th Avenue, New York.
